How We Met
We met like a lot of couples meet: online. After a few weeks of messages, calls and texts, Jon invited me to dinner at a local sports bar. Fine by me! I love sports. We sat down and didn’t stop talking. He handed me a dozen peach roses and I was hooked. Four days later, we went on our second date, dinner and karaoke. By the end of that second night, we shared our first kiss. After maybe a week, we decided that there was no reason to see other people. This was it for us.
how they asked
After a beautiful day at the beach, we came back to the house early to cook dinner for his whole family. After a very large, very Cuban meal, everyone called it a night pretty early. The two of us were just sitting up talking and he looked at me and said, “why are we waiting? Let’s get married.” My initial response was you’ve got be kidding right. I told him if this is him seriously asking me to marry him that he needed to let me know! We had discussed marriage and we knew we were headed there. I just didn’t expect an impromptu proposal! He said he was completely serious and asked me again to marry him. Of course, I said yes! After a few days to ourselves, we found a temporary ring (he hadn’t started working with the jeweler yet) we called my family and told his. While I didn’t have a ring for a few more months, I knew I had him and eventually he gave me the most beautiful, vintage inspired ring with a family diamond to make it all the more special.
