How We Met: We met in Guadalajara, Mexico, in the halls of my University while I studying Marketing. Jean-Baptiste was on an exchange program from his Business School in Paris. The first time he laid eyes on me was while I was dancing in a school presentation. One day we ran into each other and he introduced himself in Spanish with a little delicious French accent. All I can say is that I was enchanted by his blue eyes; it was love at first sight! He invited me to a Santana’s concert the next weekend and after that moment we were inseparable. Jean-Baptiste finished his exchange program and stayed in Mexico for one more year so we could live near each other while I finished school. After a year full of new adventures, the day I received my degree I was packing to go live in Paris with him. We stayed 2 years in France but after getting engaged we decided to come back to sunny Mexico to start a family.
how they asked: When the stress and the cold weather of the Parisian life was becoming too much for me to handle, Jean-Baptiste planned a trip to Mexico to visit my family and also offered a surprise 5-day vacation to Xinalani, a fabulous hotel and yoga retreat located on a private beach in Puerto Vallarta.
It was winter and there we were, at the most beautiful and sunny place on earth! A hidden paradise and pristine beach with our very own private casita with a bed covered with veils. We had a terrace with a hammock where we could cuddle all day long. There were amazing views to the ocean everywhere. We enjoyed the beach and the Mexican food as never before. We also had a romantic candlelight dinner followed by a bonfire night covered by the stars. Love was in the air. I should have suspected something.
The very next day, in the afternoon, we went off shore on a boat ride, just the two of us in the infinity of the ocean. I was clueless of what was going to happen next, but as we started to approach back to the beach at the hotel, he told me he loved me more than anything and that he would love to spend the rest of his life with me. Suddenly he pulled a box from his pocket and opened it in front of my eyes. A beautiful diamond ring was shining and tears came into my eyes. My dream came true.
