How We Met
Ryan and I met in high school, so we are high school sweethearts. We started dating on October 14, 2009. I was a junior, and he was a senior. We met through mutual friends, and we’ve been together and happy ever since. Our “first date” was at a McDonald’s! We clicked right away. Our second date was the homecoming of our high school. We had a great time, and a few days later, Ryan officially asked me to be his girlfriend. We started out as just children and now, we are adults and happier than ever. ❤
how they asked
Ryan and I are high school sweethearts. We started dating on October 14, 2009, before he proposed, we have already been together for over 8 years. The night before Valentine’s day, Ryan took me to cheesecake factory for a late dinner. It was the same restaurant where we spent our first year anniversary together. Then on the drive home, Ryan took me to the homesite where we are building our new home. We stared at our empty lot and talked about all of our big dreams slowly coming true. Then Ryan took me to another stop. It was the location of our “first date.”
It was a Mcdonald’s at a Chevron where he took me before we were even a couple when we were 16 and 17 years old. We just stopped by and thought about how funny it was for a first date. After all the trips down memory lane, Ryan managed to get us home before midnight. We reached the door to his house and he turns on his phone for the clock and at exactly midnight, on our 100th month anniversary together & 9th Valentine’s day together, Ryan opens the door. Our favorite is song playing, rose petals are everywhere, and pictures of us from over the years are scattered around the room.
There was champagne for two on one side of the room, and on the other side of the room—a path made of rose petals leading to a tiny little red box. He led me to the path. We just stared at each other! I was out of breath, speechless, giggly, and completely out of my mind! As Ryan stood in front of me, he started to cry as he tried to remember what he wanted to say. I started crying as well, but I still couldn’t stop giggling all at the same time! Then he finally was able to say the sweetest proposal speech. He took the little red box, went on one knee, and said the words I’ve always dreamt to hear: “Vivian Marie Punzalan, will you marry me?” I, of course, said “yes!” ❤
