We’ve seen our fair share of amazing proposal ideas, but this one takes the cake! Not for how over the top it was, but for how truly clever and unique this carpenter’s year-and-a-half-long surprise was to his unsuspecting girlfriend.
As Terry describes in his YouTube video (which by the way, has been seen by more than half a million people already), he’d made his girlfriend a wood necklace for their first year anniversary. She apparently loved it and has been wearing it every day since.
What she didn’t know was that he’d hidden an engagement ring inside, that only a knife could open.
Fast forward a year and a half to April 12, 2017, the pair traveled to Smoo Cave in Scotland – a place they’d talked about going since day one of their relationship. When they arrived, Terry pulled out his camera and tripod and then randomly asked Anna if he could borrow her necklace for a second. Then, he kneeled down, broke it open and revealed what had been inside all along.
According to The Huffington Post, Terry said, “It actually took her a couple of moments to understand that the ring had been in the necklace the entire time since I gave it to her.” He continued, “She flipped out ― ‘Wait, it’s been in there the entire time?! I could have lost it, you f**king idiot!’, which was a hilarious mix of happy and angry.”
