Victoria and Jonathan
How We Met
Victoria and I met through work. She works for a non-profit and I manage large scale operations for an energy company. Part of what Victoria does for her non-profit work is network with large companies to build relationships and create awareness within the community about her agency. I remember the first time I laid eyes on her, she was making a presentation at our headquarters and I saw her across the room.
I walked over to meet her and said something that made her laugh. Right hen I knew she was the one for me. I owe most of the credit to my coworker. She set up meetings with the two of us so I could get some one-on-one time with her. I had a full blown crush on this girl and was somewhat paralyzed with nerves about asking her out.
I kept coming up with reasons for her to come to the office and finally after a few months, and encouragement from my coworkers, I mustered up the courage to ask her out, and we’ve been inseparable ever since.
how they asked
Victoria has a big family and I wanted their blessing before I proposed. The first thing I did was fly up to her Mom and Dad’s. Once I got their approval, I began shopping for the perfect ring. It took some time to get all my ducks in a row for her dream ring but I finally had it in hand after a few weeks.
The last thing I had to do was get the approval from Victoria’s little sister before I actually proposed. Those two mean so much to one another, I knew it was the right thing to do. When I showed her little sister the ring, big tears rolled off her cheeks and she explained how happy she was for the both of us. I felt like my life was on another level until I came home from work to find Victoria’s three year old pup Zoe had passed away.
Victoria was devastated. Zoe was in great health, young and full of life we were both in total shock and heartbroken. I decided I didn’t want Victoria to be by herself as she was set to travel the following day to host her little sisters baby shower over the weekend. We traveled together keeping one anothers spirits high throughout the trip.
The day of her sisters shower I got with my soon-to-be brother-in-law and told him I had brought the ring with me and was planning to propose at her mom’s house after the shower. Lucky for me he’s a highly sought after East Coast wedding photographer and had just gotten back from shooting work in New York.
He had his camera with him so he helped me set up the perfect place in her mom’s backyard along the Chesapeake Bay to pop the question.
I remember saying a prayer in my heart, getting down on one knee and feeling overwhelmed with joy she said yes.
