How We Met

Jason and I initially met on OK Cupid 4.5 years ago – call us an online dating success story! His response to the question “What is the most private thing you’re willing to admit” really caught my eye. He was only willing to admit that he hated brussels sprouts. I absolutely love brussels sprouts so I reached out to him and told him he needed to give them another try. Our conversations were really casual and quite sporadic. One day though, we were both in the same San Diego neighborhood and decided to meet up. It wasn’t a date; just a convenient meet up. We should’ve known better because upon meeting, we were inseparable. We talked non-stop for hours (forgetting about our friends – whoops!) and ended the night with a hug that made me feel so incredibly at home, I can still remember how it made me feel. OK, he actually stole a kiss too. We set up a real date for the next night and the rest is history!

how they asked

We had just arrived in Sydney, Australia the day before (my first time back in 20 yrs since moving to the US when I was 12!). After lunch at the iconic Icebergs which overlooks Bondi Beach, he suggested we stroll down the Coastal Walk. As I was taking in the beautiful view, I felt a tug on my dress and heard him say, “turn around.” When I turned around he was down on one knee! He had hired a photographer to capture the whole proposal who then followed us around to shoot an engagement session! It was so amazing, thoughtful and romantic. We’ve been together for over 4 years and I couldn’t think of a better time or place to get engaged than the 20 yr reunion of coming back to my hometown.
