How We Met: Frank and I met our freshman year of college in Springfield, MA. He was the funny, football player who lived downstairs from me. After attending school together for two years, we both decided to transfer out. I moved to Florida and he went back to New York. Surprisingly, our friendship seemed to grow stronger once we were apart.
After graduating from college, I moved back to New York and we soon became inseparable. Our friends and families seemed to know we were dating before we even knew. One fall we went apple picking with our friends- who just happened to be other couples- not thinking much of it. Later that night my best friend called me to explain that guys don’t go apple picking with their “friends”. I suppose she was right!
how they asked: Frank promised me a puppy for what seemed like a year! On June 4th we finally picked up our puppy, Petunia, and we couldn’t have been happier. We had been counting down to that day for months and months. Frank explained that he wanted to take Petunia and I for a picnic in the park to debut our new little family to the world.
Before he left for work that morning he told me to be ready at 1:00pm and to wear something nice. That afternoon, he came home early to take his girls on a picnic, toting a spread of all of my favorite snacks. While on our picnic I couldn’t help but think how lucky I was to have this handsome man and adorable puppy. When the picnic was winding down, we took Petunia for a walk around the pond.
As we were walking he stopped me and explained how happy he was and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. I felt like I was in a dream, standing in a park with Petunia and the love of my life, down on one knee proposing.
