How We Met

We met in July of 2015 through a dating app called “Coffee Meets Bagel”. We were home for the summer putting us close enough to appear on each other’s feeds. I noticed that the second picture on Chase’s profile was him in a Team Rocket costume from Pokemon, so I sent him the cheesiest Pokemon pick-up line I could find after a few minutes of frantically searching: “I think StarYU and StarMIE belong together”.

A day later, Chase responded with “I think I need a Paralyze Heal, ’cause you’ve left me stunned!” After that, we went on a number of dates, including a trip to his college town where I got to watch him run off to jump into the local river to save a kid that was washing away in his inner-tube, and I knew he was the one!

How They Asked

We officially got engaged on September 1st, 2018 at our favorite, local anime convention Nan Desu Kan (NDK). Chase was able to plan ahead and sneak some of our family into the convention. He planned out his proposal with one of our favorite panels at the convention, Dead Town, a group-based zombie survival simulation where our group was led to a church for him to pop the question in front of the entire group!
