How We Met

Opposites attract! My fiancé and I met in 2019 at a wedding where we were both part of the bridal party – he as a groomsman and I as a bridesmaid. Our love story took off despite our very different backgrounds – he from Iran and me from Iowa. 💑 The pandemic brought us even closer as we moved to Chicago and tackled new challenges together. While he completed his Ph.D., I earned my Master’s degree. Our journey continued to Portland where he is now completing his internship. The future is unknown, but one thing is for sure – love knows no boundaries. ❤️ #interraciallove #loveconquersall #journeytogether

How They Asked

I still remember the moment Benjamin proposed to me like it was yesterday. It happened directly after accepting my Master’s degree in Health Communication from Northwestern University this past August 2022. I was surrounded by my family and friends and knew it would be a happy day but little did I know he was about to make it the most memorable as he appeared in front of me, got down on one knee, and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I was completely caught off guard and overjoyed, and of course, I said yes!

It’s been an incredible journey for us so far, from the night we met at our cousin’s wedding in 2019 to moving to Chicago in 2020, pursuing our dreams, and now settling in Portland for Benjamin’s internship at Intel. But no matter where life takes us, as long as we’re together, we know everything will work out.

As I prepare for the altar, I can’t help but feel grateful for his unwavering love and support from Benjamin. He is my best friend, my partner, and my rock. I know I am the luckiest woman in the world to have him and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him as my husband. Our proposal was the start of a new chapter in our lives and I’m excited to see what the future holds for us.
