Tyler and Olga
How We Met
Tyler and I met in Canada’s capital, Ottawa, on a cold February night. He was the cutest guy in the room and I just had to speak to him. While we were talking, he discretely folded, twisted and forged a rose out of a napkin. I thought it was super cheesy, but I absolutely loved it. For the next couple weeks we continued to talk, and he was just able to say everything right, it was almost creepy how well he was wooing me. Within 2 weeks he was mine, we were officially dating.
how they asked
Almost 5 years after receiving that napkin rose, we’re living together in Australia on the other side of the world. I hadn’t seen my parents in over 2 years, and Tyler flew them over to visit as a surprise. Tyler planned a 5 day trip up to Cairns, where he organised for us all to stay on a private island in the northern tropics. While walking along the beach, Tyler asked me to explain how we met on camera for a vlog post, and so I started to layout the details of that fortunate night. While explaining, Tyler again, discretely folded twisted and forged a rose out of another napkin. This time he hands me the rose, and says, “What she didn’t know, was that the napkin rose had a message inside”. As soon as I unfolded the napkin rose, I broke into tears as I read: “Marry Me?”. I turned around and Tyler was on one knee asking me to marry him. A couple of days later Tyler then told me that he created a Pinterest account, followed me and made a private board. He went through my wedding board and pinned the rings that I liked and also saw I pinned a photo that said “How to propose – Make sure you ask for permission from my parents, make sure someone captures the moment, make it a complete surprise and make sure my nails are done” Let’s just say he followed all those rules. I am so grateful to have him, he knows how much my family means to me. He made sure to ask my parents for their blessing and also made it possible for them to witness it all. I couldn’t be happier with anyone else.
