Trevor and Catherine
how they asked
It was our anniversary (six months), and we had plans to go to Mickler’s beach for a photo shoot and then dinner at our favorite restaurant. We both knew we wanted to marry each other after our first date. We had spoken about marriage. We went ring shopping, talked to our parents, and started conversations about the wedding itself. However, I was not expecting a proposal this soon. We were on the way to the beach, with the photographer, my sister and best friend, following behind us. He was making me laugh, as always, and it seemed like a normal day. We got to the beach and started taking pictures together. At one point, my sister asked me to turn around so she could get a photo of us looking into the water. Trevor says, “hold on, I want to put my phone in the camera bag.” (Turns out the ring was inside the camera bag, and he and my sister had been planning for months!) He walked over to the bag while my sister kept me turned around, taking pictures of only me. Then, I hear him say my name. I turn around, and he is down on one knee with the exact ring I asked for.
He said, “Catherine, you are my perfect compliment and the love of my life. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” As tears ran down my face, I said yes! I could not have imagined a sweeter or more perfect proposal if I tried. We went to dinner, then came home to a surprise engagement party with all of my closest family and friends. Our wedding is in September, and I cannot wait to marry my best friend.
