How We Met
In 2007 there was a tragic bus accident at Pennsbury High School. When I came home I turned on the news and seen it displayed. I immediately called my friend Melissa who was at the East campus where the accident occurred, there was no answer. Finally, a boy answered the phone, “Hey, this is Jake. Melissa was involved in the accident she’s on her way to St. Mary’s Hospital, I will be following her there with her belongings. I responded, “Okay, well I have no idea who you are or what you look like so please keep her phone on you and when I get to the hospital I will call and we can meet up.” When I got to the hospital Jake and I met in the lobby area. As the days passed fundraisers began for another student who was tragically injured. Jake and I started hanging out and became friends. Not long after he asked me to be his girlfriend. We have now been dating for 10 years.
how they asked
On January 12, 2017 Jake and I had “dinner reservations” at Bonefish Grill at 7pm. As we were getting into his truck Jake said to me “I need to swing by St. Mary’s and drop something off to Sgt. Moors who’s at the hospital with somebody in custody” (Jake is a police officer) I was so angry that our dinner plans were ruined. When we pulled up to the hospital Jake came over to my door and opened it saying “I need you to come in with me.” I responded, “no! I am so mad at you.” Jake said, “Please, you don’t want to miss this.” I looked at him with a confused look as I got out of the car. Jake grabbed my hand as we walked into the hospital lobby. As we walked in and turned the corner I saw all of our family and friends lined up. I looked at Jake and said “What is this. What is going on” Jake said, “Do you know what today is.
Today is the 10th anniversary of the day we first met.” My eyes filled with tears as he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him.
Of course I said, “YES”
