How We Met
Tim and I met at his fraternity’s probate after party in 2013. It was raining and on the way there I had gotten a flat tire. Buzzkill! I was truly ready to call it a night and head right back home but my friend insisted we still go. After sitting in the venue’s parking lot for 20 minutes, dragging my feet, we went inside of the party. My friend spotted coworkers and began mingling with them. I am a little shy so I stood by myself. I looked over and what I didn’t know is this super FINE, laid back man walking towards me would be my future husband. Apparently, he felt obligated to play wing-man for his friend that was conversing with my friend at the time. He later claimed that he had no intentions on taking things past that point, but I struck gold and knew it. We exchanged a few words. I ended up giving him my number and couldn’t stop talking about him for the rest of the night.
On the way to work, I sent him a text the next day to ask about his night. The devil was working because he missed class that day and got locked out of his house that night, but it only made us closer. After I got off of work, I called him on FaceTime; we talked about it…and talked some more…. until 5am. We fell asleep on the phone like high school lovebirds that night. Smitten, he called the next morning to see if I would be up to go on a little date to a college football game at Georgia Tech. I had to work later on, and at this point in my life, I was so anti-dating that my first instinct was to say no. I immediately told a friend of the situation and she yelled at me to go. FINE. Dragging my feet, again, I went. He later told me that was the day he fell for me. Fast forward, here we are about to plan our wedding.
how they asked
What I thought was a birthday celebration for a friend of mine, turned out to be one of the best days of my life.
Background: A few of my friends and I planned a trip to the Chateau Elan winery for a wine tour and tasting for a friend’s birthday. This was planned out for a month. Apparently, with my sweet friend open to share her day of birthday celebration with us, Tim decided that this would be the perfect scenario. And he was right.
The Day Of: Tim was out of town the previous night and had just gotten back in town that morning. As I was getting ready, he said he was hungry and was going to head out to grab some breakfast and he might be back before I leave but if not then to have fun. Completely normal. I meet up with my friends as scheduled and we take off in our party bus to the winery. We go through the tour and the wine tasting. Unbeknownst to me, everyone was distracting me to stay away from the window as my family and friends were outside setting the scene. A couple of glasses of wine later, we are leaving and my friends want to take pictures by the fountain. Again, completely normal.
Then it happens… the ladies taking our pictures just kind of smiled and looked behind me. I start to hear one of my favorite songs playing in the background. I turn around and see my family. Instantly, I broke down because I knew what was happening. Dysfunctional, I walked over to the love of my life and he asked me to spend forever with him. It was more than I could’ve ever asked for.
