how we met
Dwight and I met in 2004 through mutual friends at a high school basketball game. We dated for 2 years and then Dwight was stationed in California, he joined the Marine Corps after graduating high school; at that time be decided it would be best for us to friends. Over the years, through all the ups and downs that life threw at us we were always the one constant in each other lives.
In May of 2013 Dwight needed a date to his cousins wedding so he decided to ask me and of course I went, after that weekend we spent every minute we could together. To say that he is my best friend and the love of my life would be an understatement!
how they asked
In November of 2013 Dwight was out of town in Albany NY, working one night while discussing Christmas he thought it would be a good idea to have pictures done as gifts to our families; so I reached out to Casey to schedule them… Little did I know Dwight had a different plan in the works. After I told the when and where of the pictures, he then reached out to Casey and told her his plan.
The day of our pictures we got to our location and Casey started taking the pictures, having us pose and the she asked if we could face each other. At that moment Dwight got down on one knee, asked me to be his wife, and gave me the most beautiful ring I had ever seen.
Then proceeded to show me that the day before he had went to my father’s grave side to ask permission! It was all so amazing and well planned, Casey then congratulates us and gave me signs that she had made as props for our pictures. The whole experience was like a dream from Dwight planning to make it so special and Casey’s amazing photography. It will always be one of my most memorable days and I loved having all the pictures of that day to look back on!
