How We Met
We met at a personal/professional growth training. She was new to the city and a coworker recommended it to her, while a really good friend of mine recommended the program to me. The funny thing is, we both were putting off attending for months and happened to choose the same program date.
We’ve been together for a little over two years. We were great friends for about a year before we started dating. I was very clear on what we could and should be – she took a little longer to see the light. But at the end of the day, the timing worked out perfectly because we built a great relationship rooted in true friendship, trust, and unconditional love.
how they asked
I proposed on October 4th, 2018. We attend quite a few gala events throughout the year, so I told her we had a cocktail gala to attend so she would dress up. I took her to the Cloisters, where I (with the help of her best friend, my sister & her sorority sister) had a blanket set up with rose petals, champagne, a string quartet playing, a photographer and videographer to capture the moment and our closest family and friends hiding in the bushes. Once I asked her to marry me and she said YES, our friends and family came out and celebrated with us. It was a truly magical moment.
She was completely shocked. I’m so glad I was able to pull off the ultimate surprise! She also loved the ring and said it was perfect. I think it shows who she is: one of a kind, classic, feminine and even on a gloomy day, it shines brightly from every angle.
We plan to get married in the DMV (D.C., MD, VA) – where she’s from in the fall of 2019. We are hoping to have a fall wedding with our closest family and friends. Our hope is to have a wedding rooted in faith, love and lots and lots of fun. ***We are going to secure a venue Thanksgiving weekend.
