how we met
We had always been around each other. Same school as little kids and we both were in 4-H. And although we passed each other and occupied the same area. It wasn’t until 2009 at a 4-H dance in High School that we actually interacted with each other. Down and upset with the day I really didn’t say anything to anyone at the event. And out of no where here he comes walking straight for me. Not wanting to dance or a to talk smooth, but to say “ Hey, I noticed you weren’t smiling and your normal self. Is everything ok?” It was something so small but meant the world to me. And so began our journey as best friends and soon star written lovers.
how they asked
The proposal took place on October 11, 2014 at the 4-H office before our yearly trip to the Perry Fair. His mom and family were there and so were mine because it was a 4-H trip and that wouldn’t make it obvious. All of the staff were family to us because they all had a part in either raising us or helping us become the people we are today. As we were all getting ready to get on the road he slowly gave my hand and tells me how much he loves me and that he couldn’t imagine a world without me in it. And falls to one knee. All of a sudden I hear him say “TeTonia will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”. He had been planning this all week without me knowing and had even had my parents involved. A proposal at the one place that brought us together surrounded by those who loved us and cared for us both.
