How We Met
Brandon and I met in high school. He was the cute boy sitting in the back of the class, and I was a few rows up slowing falling in love with the boy that would eventually become the love of my life. I struck up a conversation with him over college football, and from then he says he knew I was pretty special. We continued to talk and grew closer as we spent more time together.
How They Asked
After over 6 years of being together, we both knew that we wanted to get married. We had talked about it for some time leading up to the moment and we shared the vision of spending the rest of our lives together. Naturally, I had expected an engagement soon, but I didn’t know when. And unfortunately for Brandon, I am so “Type A” that, surprising me is nearly impossible. Yet he did it!
He told me that his mother wanted pictures for a New Years card since she didn’t get one out for Christmas. When he suggested, “just taking the dog for a walk” to the large Christmas tree down the street I thought nothing of it. I had recommended a different location but agreed to go to the tree first.
After taking a few pictures Brandon led us around to the other side of the tree to reveal an ornament that said our names, the date, and “Will you marry me?” on the back. Brandon proceeded to get down on one knee and asked me to marry him. After a few tears and the easiest yes of my life, I turned around to see our family walking toward us.
It was the happiest moment of our lives, and we’re looking forward to a life full of happiness.
Easy to say, best Christmas present ever!
