How We Met
Zak and I grew up in the same town, but didn’t meet until 8th grade. I still remember the shirt he was wearing when we awkwardly said hello at church the first time! We fell in love when I was 15, he was 16, and dated for two years, but ended up going separate ways during college. Four years passed, as I moved two hours away for school and he stayed closer to home. Even when we went a whole year without seeing one another, I always knew he was the one. We kept in touch over the years, until it was just undeniable, we were meant to be together!
how they asked
Zak is the kind of person who will never let life just pass you by. He fully lives every day. It’s one of the million things I love about him. Knowing this, I knew when he proposed, it wouldn’t be anything ordinary. We spent the week of Christmas in Colorado with Zak’s family snowboarding. On our last day, we decided to explore around the town and take pictures of the incredible scenery. We went to several different parks that we had found online, but were not able to get to any of them due to the feet of snow covering the entrances. He was so determine to “find somewhere pretty” to take pictures. We ended up driving down a dead end road that was surrounded by mountains and Hahn’s Peak. We got out of the car to take what I thought were just pictures of the breathtaking mountains. I honestly didn’t think a thing about it. We are always driving around taking pictures wherever we go, so this seemed completely normal to me. As soon as we got out of the car, his mom asked to take a picture of us.
We took a picture, and before I could walk he away, he started telling me how much he loved me and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. I was so in shock that he was doing it right then, all I could say was “right now?!” He got down on one knee and took my breathe away as he asked me to marry him. I somehow, through the giggles and tears, said yes! I have never been more happy in my entire life! I honestly giggled for an hour after the proposal. He could’ve asked in a dark alley with a ring pop and I still would have said yes. I never would have dreamed to have a more beautiful proposal to an even more amazing guy!
