how they asked: The night before he had told me that he wanted to watch the sun come up the next morning. This was something we did fairly often so I didn’t suspect anything unusual.
We set out alarms for 5am and the next morning we jumped in the car and drove just a couple minutes down the road from his beach house. Once we got to the beach, he laid out a few blankets and we snuggled up closely to wait for the sun. We were sitting talking about our futures which wasn’t uncommon.
He said “I just want to spend the rest of my life with you” and I said the exact same back to him.
All of a sudden he turns a little and when he turned back around he was holding a box with the most beautiful ring I had ever seen and said “well why don’t we? Will you marry me?”
I began sobbing and completely forgot to respond to his question. After a little he asked if he could get a definite yes to which I repeated of course, of course, of course!
After sitting and crying and laughing we drove back to his beach house and he had planned to have both our families there waiting for us cheering with drinks and balloons and presents.
We all had brunch together as one big happy family followed by a day of celebration at our favorite beach. It was the happiest day of my entire life.
