How We Met
I was very fortunate to meet Kyle early in life. I was just 15 years old when we first began dating. Yes, that is correct, I met my now fiancé at just 15. We attended the same high school. It was the story of the senior boy and the freshman girl. It was a wonderful relationship that lasted a year. Until the time it came for Kyle to go to college. We tried the long distance thing for a few months. But, we were just at different stages in our lives. The relationship just wasn’t what it was before. So, we ended our relationship. It was very tragic for me. I was devastated, I was sure that he was my husband. As time went on, it did get easier.. But, Kyle was still on my mind for years.
Fast forward 4 years, and I am now a Freshman in college, and Kyle a Senior in college. We didn’t go to the same school, but did attend colleges in Indiana. I was a wide-eyed girl at Indiana State, and Kyle was thriving at the University of Evansville. Shortly after I started school, I received a text from “Kyle Allan,” it had been months since we had last run into each other, and I will admit a smile instantly came across my face. After talking for a few days, I decided that I would go to Evansville and visit Kyle. From there, the relationship blossomed. The next year, I transferred to UE, and Kyle obtained his Masters of Science, giving us to 2 more years together at the University we fell in love with.
Fast forward to today, and we have been together for 5 years. It has been an incredible 5 years, full of love, travel, and friendships. We have traveled to numerous cities across US, & have been fortunate enough to travel to international tropical destinations as well.
Kyle is a Purchasing Agent for a utility company & I am a Nurse in the Neuro ICU. We both are very fortunate to be in wonderful careers that we are proud of. Kyle and I are the perfect balance for one another. He is outgoing and energetic, and I am more reserved. He is loving and caring to so many people. Looking forward, I cannot wait to see our love story continue to grow and blossom.
how they asked
About a month ago, we received an Instagram message from a local photographer. She was working on updating her website, and was looking for some fresh faces to be featured on her “Love” page. I was ecstatic to be featured on her page. I instantly responded back, and accepted her invitation. Kyle and I spent lots of time picking out our outfits, and thinking about what these photos would end up looking like. Fast forward to the shoot day, and as we were headed up to meet her for our outdoor photo-shoot, the snow began to come down in light flurries, and the sun was peaking through the clouds. It seemed to be the perfect elements for an outdoor photo-shoot. As our pictures began, Jen (our photographer) was taking pictures of the two of us in front a lake with the gorgeous skyline behind us. Then she took pictures of just me, while Kyle went and got our coats, and took them to the second location.
We migrated to our next site, which was a beautiful setup with blankets, mason jars, & pillows. We got cuddled up under a blanket and took some pictures. Then, Jen told me to come forward for some pictures, and Kyle would be behind me out of focus, but still in the photos. After some time, she told me to turn around. As you can see in the pictures, Kyle was behind me down on one knee. As I turned around, I was in total shock… Was this real, or part of the photo shoot by chance? As I got closer, I saw the gorgeous ring, and knew this was the real deal. Tears began falling down my cheeks as Kyle was proposing. “You’ve been my best friend for the last 5 years, and I can’t imagine my life with anyone else. Will you be my wife?”
At this point, Jen is snapping photos, and I am just so elated. I am finally going to be marrying the man of my dreams. We took a few more pictures at this setup, and then back in front of the lake. We considered taking more, but I couldn’t wait to go and share the news with our family and friends. As we pulled away, I couldn’t help but break down, as it was all setting in.
We were finally going to be getting married. We spent the next 6 hours driving from family member to family member to share our great news. While driving, I found out Kyle had planned every detail of this shoot. He had planned the messages from the photographer, down to the pillows and blankets. No detail was spared. I cannot wait to become Mrs. Coulson!!
