How We Met

Kevin and I met 5 years in the most millennial way you could think of which was Facebook. We exchanged phone numbers and after a few weeks of texting decided to meet in person. Kevin was attending college at the Oklahoma Central University in Edmond, OK while I was attending college at Weatherford, OK. Since we lived about an hour and a half a part, Kevin decided to drive to where I was and take me on a date. I asked my guy roommates if they would stay in the living room so I could get their approval before going on the date. Kevin pulled up in front of my apartment building and I went outside to meet him. I can still remember every detail of that moment. I remember looking at him for the first time and it was just as if my heart knew he was my forever. Kevin came inside of the apartment and chatted it up with the guys and I got a text message from one of my roommates saying he approved. Kevin took me to a Mexican restaurant where we had dinner and talked like we had known each other for years. We later hit up the local movie rental store and found a few movies to watch. We spent the rest of the night sitting in my small college apartment watching movies. It was simple, but loving him is just simple.

how they asked

My sister had just recently moved home from Florida after her and her family were stationed in Jacksonville. My sister and I were spending a weekend together when she mentioned about her visiting the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge near our home town. She asked if I would be interested in taking some pictures with Kevin some time. We scheduled them the following weekend since we knew it would be nice outside. Later in the week Kevin contacted my sister and told her that he wanted to use this moment to ask me to marry him. Kevin had had the ring for the last four months, but was waiting patiently for my sister to move back home because he knew how much it would mean to me to have her there. As we were taking pictures, my sister asked me to walk towards the sun so she could get pictures of my dress. It was then that she pulled the ring out her backpack that she was secretly keeping for Kevin. I heard her tell me to turn back around and walk towards her and it was then that I saw the man of my dreams down on one knee. As if having my sister there to capture every moment wasn’t enough. Kevin was holding a ring that was made by my parents. Each of the people I love more than anything in this life came together to make this moment so special for us. This moment is the happiest moment of my life.
