How We Met
Jackson and I met in 2014 when we were both studying at The University of North Texas. He was a Pi Kappa Phi and I was an Alpha Phi. Our chapters were put together on a team for the annual Greek Week.I was in charge of planning the Canstruction exhibit, a competition that involves a canned food drive.
Jackson saw me working on it at the sorority house and skipped our capture the flag at night mixer to stay and help me. He came over every single day after that and became my go-to guy for the competition! While our design skills are not our strong suit, we donated nearly a thousands cans to charity! (and won each other!) I didn’t realize he even liked me until the day of the competition. When we finished building our exhibit, he gave me a big hug and spun me around! Later he put his arm around me at the judging and that’s when it hit me. We started dating shortly after that and have gone to visit and support the North Texas State Fair Canstruction exhibit every year since!
how they asked
For two years Jackson lived on a small manmade lake in Las Colinas, Texas. He had an amazing view of Lake Carolyn and we used to sit out every day and watch the sunset. When he proposed, he had told me we were going on a surprise date. He drove us over to the lake with champagne in hand. We went for a walk down the beautiful canal when all of our friends popped out with signs that said, “Will you marry me?” I said heck yes, we popped the champagne and were showered with confetti!
