How We Met
Gabe was doing an internship at a construction site in the summer of 2016. Coincidentally, both my mother & I were working at that same construction site as nurses. It was my day off when I received a phone call from my mom that would change my life forever. She called to tell me that the cutest boy was just in the office. Initially, I thought nothing of it, but she went on to tell me that she told him to add me on Facebook. In an absolute panic, I replied, “Oh my gosh. Please say you’re joking! Mom……you can’t do that! That is so awkward!” She wasn’t joking. We hung up the phone & I had a message from Gabe waiting for me saying, “This is probably weird but I just met your Mom & I think you’re really pretty. Would you want to go on a date with me this weekend?” & I guess the rest is history.
How They Asked
We loaded up in my Dad’s truck & traveled across the state to go to the Christmas tree farm that we go to every year. After we arrived, we set out to find our perfect tree. Typically in situations like these, Gabe is very agreeable to whatever I decide on. This year was different. We walked all around the farm. I pointed out a dozen different trees – Gabe shot down every single one, encouraging me to “just keep looking”. We finally found a beautiful, tall tree tucked away in a quiet corner of the farm. He asked me to hold the trunk as he cut it down. He got down on one knee & reached back for the saw (or so I thought). Seconds later he pulled out the most gorgeous ring I have ever seen. It suddenly became clear why we had to find the most perfect tree in the most perfect spot. With tears in both of our eyes, he said, “I can’t imagine spending the rest of my life with anyone else. Taylor, will you marry me.” With my parents there to see, I said yes to marrying my best friend.
