How We Met
We met through mutual friends when we were in high school. We stayed friends, but after high school Darrin moved away for school and ended up travelling the world. When he came home, we met a friend’s birthday party. The first time I saw him, he had a sombero on his head, from that moment on he always kept me laughing.
how they asked
Darrin and I planned a trip to Manitoulin Island for a week. I had always travelled to this island every summer with my family, so it meant a lot to me to show Darrin my second home. We had a week planned of laying on the beach, hiking, swimming, visiting the waterfalls, and showing up to a chocolate factory. Darrin and I went on a hike called The Cup and Saucer Trial. Darrin packed a picnic basket for us, and we were on our way. He ran and climbed much faster then myself, so I was seriously out of breath by the time we got to the top. We had an amazing picnic at the lookout point of this hike, which overlooks a lot of the island. It was breath taking. When I turned back around to look at Darrin, he was on one knee asking me to marry him. It was a dream come true. I of course said yes! Every hiker we met down that hill I had to say I was engaged! I couldn’t believe it! When we got back down to the bottom, my grandparents were waiting (as they already knew the news). It was an amazing day, that I will never forget. This man incorporated what was most important to me into his marriage proposal, and that was my family.
