Austin and I met our first year at APU (Azusa Pacific University). We immediately became best friends and shortly after fell head over heels in love with each other. We have been dating for almost two years now, so the idea of marriage has been discussed quite a bit. The day Austin proposed I knew something was up. I was told we were meeting his family for dinner but we went a little early to walk around the beach for a while. As we were walking, Austin’s grip on my hand kept getting tighter. We walked to the edge of the shore to find a message in a bottle. He was writing something earlier that morning so I knew it was for me. I didn’t even read the entire message because I wanted to know what would happen next. Of course I read it later and cried. When I put down the message, I watched Austin get down on one knee with tears in our eyes. He asked me to be his wife and to revolve our future marriage around God. After I said yes, I saw the photographers, we took some gorgeous pictures, and then walked down the beach to find a beautiful picnic set up for the two of us. We watched the sun go down at the foot of the cross on the hill in front of us, and basked in the most precious moment.
