How We Met
This picture is the first one we ever took together, 7 years ago. We met freshman year of college at Hofstra University in 2009 and began dating the summer going into sophomore year in 2010. James definitely had to win me over in the beginning and he would always go to our mutual friend Laura for advice on how to do so. He asked me to come visit him at his house in Connecticut that summer and we really hit it off. He asked me to be his girlfriend and I accepted. At that moment, I knew he would be the person I would spend the rest of my life with. On the train ride back to my house in New Jersey, he told me he loved me and I couldn’t help but feel the same way as crazy as it sounds.
how they asked
August 6th is our anniversary and we went on a boat cruise around NYC. James and I are big city people and love exploring new places in Manhattan. We have always wanted to visit Long Island City because of how beautiful the view of the city skyline was at the piers so we decided to make that the second part of our anniversary weekend. We planned a day where we would get lunch and dessert and then go see the view and walk along the pier. I told James I wanted to get a photo of us at the pier and he was acting really strange because he was looking around the whole time. As I was looking at the skyline I turned around and James kept hugging and kissing me and he seemed so nervous.
He then got down on one knee and it was all a blur from there. I can barely remember what he said but as I looked around I saw our friends and family emerge from the bushes around us. He had invited them all to spend that special moment with us and then we had dinner and drinks afterwards to celebrate. It was an amazing day and I will always remember it.
