How We Met: We met through a mutual friend, and there was an instant connection. We have been inseparable ever since.
how they asked: On November 7, 2014 (Aramazd’s 25th birthday) he asked me to have dinner, just him and I. He made up this story about how through connections he got a reservation for this fancy restaurant that usually takes 6 months to get in. When he picked me up we went and got drinks at the Commissary at the Line Hotel, and while we were there he casually said “on our way to the restaurant we should stop by the Urban Lights since you love that place and it is on the way”. As we left the Commissary and were headed towards the lights we were reminiscing about the good times we have shared together over the past 2 years. We got to the Urban Lights and we saw that the lights were off. That is something that never ever happens. Those lights are on 365 days a year. I looked at Aramazd and said “should we just leave?” he replied “no, when do we ever get to see the lights off.” I agreed and got out of the car and started walking towards the lights. We were admiring the lights when I heard music playing and saw someone started to dance, shortly after someone else joined the dancer and next thing I know there were 10-15 people just dancing. Immediately I remember the movie Friends With Benefits with Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis and knew I was witnessing a flash mob. Quickly I told my boyfriend to take a picture of me since occasions like these rarely take place. I started taking videos of them when I saw one of the members of the flash mob carrying a big poster with Aramazd’s name on it, followed by a poster of hearts, and finally my name on the last one. I looked at him in awe and kept repeating his name over and over again and saying “what is happening?”. He started tearing up and poured his heart out and got down on one knee. He reached for his pocket and took out a diamond shaped ring box. I was crying none stop and kept pinching myself to know for sure this is not a dream. He asked me the 4 powerful words that changed our lives forever “Will you marry me?”, to which I had the honor of answering “Yes, of course!”. That is when we went from being boyfriend and girlfriend to being engaged and calling each other fiancé. To top it all off, I turned around after being filled with joy of being engaged for 2 minutes and saw my family and his family were all there hiding and witnessing the entire event.
There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about that one night that changed everything. Birthdays are supposed to be all about yourself and people getting you presents and making it all about you. Well, Aramazd made his 25th birthday all about us ! It goes to show what an incredible and selfless man he is. He still treats me the same way as he did the first day, if not even better!
I can not wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend, my soulmate and the love of my life.
