Sydney and Tyler

How We Met

I met Tyler in my senior year of high school about 6.5 years ago! Tyler asked me to homecoming and what can I say, we really hit it off! Honestly- it was a total set up! His buddy told him it was a great idea, and we were all in the same friend group so it would be perfect! Well- Little did we all know that 6.5 years later Tyler would be down on one knee asking me to marry him! I love our story and I wouldn’t change it for the world. We’ve been through some ups and downs but in the end, our love for each other always won. I am so excited about this next chapter in our lives and to be Mrs. Kilchrist forever!!

How They Asked

Tyler took me to Austin for a mini getaway (this was his Christmas gift to me)! I didn’t think anything of it- Austin is our favorite place and somewhere we like to visit at least once a year or more if we can! Little did I know, he had been planning this trip for MONTHS and MONTHS! Anyways, we drove in on a Friday and spent the afternoon eating at our favorite restaurant (Homeslice Pizza) seriously try it out if you are ever in Austin! We also took a picture by the iconic, I Love You So Much wall right in front of Joe’s Coffee on South Congress street! Did I mention this wall was where Tyler first told me he loved me?? So stinking cute!! Anyways- Saturday came around and he planned out a very special day. We first went and got our workout on at Orangetheory (one of our favorite things to do together)! He took me to get breakfast tacos, and then we spent the afternoon sightseeing before a “special dinner”. Tyler took me to the 360 bridge first. We took cute pictures there!

Then, he took me to Mount Bonnell. (If you haven’t been there, it’s a beautiful area overlooking Lake Austin! We had asked a couple to take a picture of us, and we did the same for them! As I turned around was to give the other couples phone back to them, Tyler snuck out the ring he had been hiding all day and got down on one knee. It was simple but perfect… “Sydney Ione Thomas, will you marry me?” Easiest YES of my life!!! The best surprise EVER! Tyler also had a secret photographer capture the whole moment and then continue to take amazing engagement photos! Afterward- he took me to the Oasis (a beautiful restaurant overlooking the lake as well)!

Little did I know all our closest friends and family were there waiting to surprise me! He even flew out of my best friend from college from California to surprise me! We spent the night eating, laughing, and telling stories! It was truly the best day of my life. A memory I will cherish forever! Samuel Tyler- I love you 3000 and can’t wait to marry you!
