Sydney and Jack
How We Met
Jack and I, actually, first met while we were juniors in high school back in 2008. Jack was a handsome baseball player that had me from the first time I saw him. Something about him made me want to get to know him more. We dated on and off throughout high school and decided when I left to attend The University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) and he left for spring training with the Detroit Tigers that we would take a break and see how things went. We were actually apart for around two years when something drew us back together. Now here we are almost six years later and we are engaged!
how they asked
The proposal… Jack had been asking me when I had a stretch of days off from work so we could take a trip. He wanted us to go back to Paris, which was our first big trip that we ever took together. As a flight attendant, I have the luxury of doing these types of getaways and maneuvering my schedule around. Luckily, I made it work and Jack and I were off to Paris for a few days! We spent the whole first day getting settled and walking around the most romantic city on earth. We called it a night pretty early because we were jet lagged or so I thought was the only reason. However, Jack woke me up bright and early the following morning because he wanted us to go watch the sunrise at the Eiffel Tower. Now, for those that know me, you all know that I am not a morning person. I woke up slightly confused and not wanting to get up. Even so, something told me to get up because it was going to be a perfect day and a perfect day it most certainly was!
Jack was up and ready to leave by 6:30am. I, however, took my time getting ready because I knew we would take a picture or two! I mean when in Paris, right? Little did I know that while I was doing my hair, trying to figure out what to wear, munching on chocolate croissants- Jack was agonizing on if we would make it by the 7am appointment with the photographer that he had reserved. Also, side note- we flew to Paris on my standby benefits so he literally had to finalize all of these plans the day before once we made the flight. I am still in shock that he pulled this off!
We arrived at the Eiffel Tower just in time for the sunrise. It was beautiful! Jack said it was the best time to get some pictures because hardly anyone would be around and it was very true. There were only a handful of people around. This was all just another hint something was off because Jack is not a picture person! All of a sudden a photographer appeared and asked if she could take a few pictures of us. Jack told me he reached out to her so we could have some professional photos taken to always remember this moment. She led us to a special area and began posing us and taking out picture. At that moment, Jack turned to me and told me that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. He got down on one knee and proposed. It was beautiful and completely perfect. It was absolutely the best experience of my life, and it couldn’t have been more perfect! We’re getting married!
