How We Met
I’ve known Gerry for 5-6 years now, he was and still is best friends with my cousin, which is essentially how we crossed paths. So damn glad we did. It was at one of my best friend’s 21st birthday, some three years ago, where we instantly connected. We danced, had a few drinks and the rest is history. It’s crazy how this world works, Gerry’s drive, intelligence, generosity, caring and thoughtful nature is everything I ever wanted in a life partner and he encompasses that and much more. They say when you know, you know and that’s exactly how I feel about Gerry. Our relationship is simply perfect and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
how they asked
It was a week after my sister’s wedding and Christmas Eve. Every Christmas Eve my family and a few other families get together and celebrate. It’s a long standing tradition. This year we were staying at Crown Towers and decided, given the large number of us, that Kris Kringle would be the most entertaining. During the day, Gerry came over to my house and we hanged out, watched tv and tried to catch some sun before we had to make out way to Crown for dinner. On our way, I realised that Gerry’s Kris Kringle present was small but heavy and he wouldn’t tell me who he had (this was obviously a fake present). At the time, I obviously didn’t think anything of it. We got to the penthouse where everyone was, we had an incredible night! It was 5 mins to midnight and everyone decided to sit around the coffee table where the presents were located so that we could count down to Christmas and ofcourse open our presents. I was probably the third person to get my present, when I started opening the present, I thought it was a pair of sneakers because it was in an adidas box, but the box felt awfully light. I opened the box and found some some silver foil and a small black box. I still had absolutely no idea and thought maybe someone bought me a piece of jewellery. It did not once cross my mind that Gerry was about to propose. I was with him pretty much all week and so I have no idea when he had the time to ask my dad for my hand. It was when I was looking in the box for another clue that Gerry pulled my hand, got down on one knee and asked whether I would continue to make him happy for the rest of his life. It was the most incredible and emotional experience of my life, I loved having my family there so that they could experience the most amazing night of my life.
