How We Met
Jason had recently moved back to Decatur from Chicago. He was hired as the Athletic Director at my former High School. I had just landed a job in Human Resources for the same school district as well as an Assistant Volleyball coaching position at the other high school in town.
One Friday night, I decided to check out MacArthur’s football team. I went with my friend who was the Head Volleyball coach at MacArthur. I saw Jason walking around and knew he didn’t look familiar. I asked my friend who he was and he told me he was new Athletic Director.
Four weeks later, we were all at an area Volleyball tournament and my friend officially introduced us. You could say it was love at first sight.
how they asked
Jason and I planned a long weekend getaway to visit friends in Florida. We had dinner reservation that night, but first our friends wanted to take us to the beach to see the sunset. Little did I know I would be experiencing the most romantic proposal ever! Jason and I walked up to the beach first. As soon as I looked up there were light-up letters that spelled “LOVE” with rose petals leading to a seashell outlined heart with a bouquet of roses and a ring box. In the background was Kenny Chesney’s “You Save Me” song from a portable stereo. Jason took my hands and told me how much I meant to him and how he wanted to make the proposal special. Our friends helped set everything up to make it perfect. He told me how much he loved me as I fought back tears, got on one knee and asked me to marry him.
