Susanna and Scott

How They Asked

We were visiting Maui, Hawaii for my birthday. At the time, we have been dating for nearly 5 years. Scott, my now fiancé, told me that he had a surprise trip planned for me on October 27, 2018. He gave me very few details but said that I should dress nice. Our first stop was a surprise helicopter ride. I was so happy when I found out. This was special for me because I really wanted to fly on a helicopter while we were in Maui. It was a beautiful trip and I thought that he planned this ride so that he could propose to me. Unfortunately, a proposal didn’t happen there so I thought maybe it wouldn’t happen at all. Then, he told me we were going somewhere else. One hour later, it was raining and we were at a beach we visited earlier in the week. He told me there was a gift for me to find. Of course, I was oblivious and couldn’t see anything because it was drizzling rain.

We were also walking on wet, sharp volcanic rock. It was not an easy task finding the gift. He could see that I was struggling, so he steered me in the right direction. I ended up finding this glass container that had roses, seashells, and a handwritten note inside. After reading the heartfelt note, I saw Scott on one knee with a ring and he asked me to marry him. I said “yes”! We were both emotional and elated.

Proposal Ideas Maui, Hawaii

Scott told me to turn around and there was a photographer, Stephanie, taking pictures of us. We ended up having a proposal photographing session followed by a romantic, private dinner by the beach. It was all so romantic. The proposal was everything I dreamed of and more. To this day, Scott and I still get compliments from people on how he proposed. I’m so grateful and blessed to have someone in my life who loves me so dearly. He put so much thought and effort into such a memorable proposal. I cannot wait to marry him!
