How We Met

We actually met on Tinder, a dating App back in May of 2014. I had went to a medium 3 months prior and they told me that my deceased father and my mother’s mother had come through together. They told the medium they were going to be bringing me a man who I would marry and that he would come into my life in either April or May of that year. P.S. Our first date was on my father’s birthday, May 14th. The rest is history!

how they asked

My best friend had asked me if we wanted to join her and her boyfriend for dinner in Long Island City at the restaurant that we had our first date in. My friend lives in Long Island city and her building faces the pier. When we arrived at her building to meet them, she told me she was running about 10 minutes late because she had to walk her dog quickly. Miguel then said lets take a walk on the pier to see the skyline (the night was so foggy that you couldn’t see anything). I thought it was strange but didn’t want to ruin a surprise if that was what he was planning. There was a man standing with his back to us on the pier with a professional camera, taking pictures of the foggy skyline.

I said to Miguel, “what Is this guy taking pictures of exactly, you can’t see anything!” The guy then turns around and it happens to be someone that Miguel knows from his neighborhood. He pretended like it was quite the coincidence but I then knew something was definitely up. They waited until I was in place where they wanted me and then Miguel got down on one knee.

He was so nervous, he couldn’t get the words out. All he could say was, “thank you for being so patient.” He then just nodded his head at me. We both lost it.

His other friend who is a videographer was hiding on the pier and had caught the whole moment. My best friends then came running down the pier with champagne (turns out they were watching from the top of my friend’s building the whole time). This meant so much to me, as Miguel hates photos or videos. He knows I love capturing the moment so he planned this whole thing just for me.

He then surprised me with family and other friends for dinner at the restaurant we had out first date, Shi in Long Island City. To say it was perfect is an understatement. I was on cloud 9 for weeks after and watching the video allowed me to relive the moment over and over again. If you are unable to access the video, it is located on my IG as well as pictures as I was unable to attach from this PC.
