How We Met
We met in June 2014 on a blind date! I only knew his first name, and didn’t know anything else about him. We met through mutual friends, Tanya and Travis. I was told we were going out for dinner with her boyfriend and his best friend. Steve was told something different. We met at Applebee’s, and it was your typical, (girls on one side of the table, boys on another) I was so nervous, and didn’t think twice about anything because I was with Tanya. I knew there was something about him. His smile and personality caught me right away! After dinner we went to see a movie, and I sat by Tanya; Steve by Travis. I wasn’t sure what it was. After the movie, I thanked him and we went our separate ways. I had to text Tanya to get his phone number because I had to thank him again, and plus I wanted to see him again!
We met again later that night at a local bar because he was out with another friend and I was with my roommate at the time Lindsay. We talked the rest of the night, and the rest is history!
how they asked
We were out in Las Vegas on vacation in August. This was the second to last night we were there, and we both wanted to do the ride on top of the Stratosphere. We were walking into the Casino, holding hands, and Steve’s hands were really clammy. I asked him “What the heck is going on with your hands?” and he said “I am just nervous about this ride, I really hate heights” Since When?! its been over two years, and I never knew that! I had NO idea that something was coming!
I went to go pick up the tickets for the ride to the top. In the meantime Steve went and told the security guards that he was going to propose not to check his pockets, as we had to go through a security line. We were on our way up in the elevator, and Steve said “You know nothing is going to happen here right?” I said “oh my gosh! yes we have talked about it already, and I am not expecting anything. We talked about before the end of the year” We went to the inside observation deck, once we got off the elevator. I told Steve I wanted to get a picture outside, and he said “I am sure we can get one before the ride, if we can’t find the outside observation deck”
We got outside and were observing the lights and the city being outside on top of Las Vegas! I love pictures, and I asked some random guy to get a picture of us, after I took one of him and his wife. He agreed, and he snapped a photo.
After he snapped the photo, I said “Can you take one more? I want to get one without my shoes on” I guess I wanted to be shorter than Steve for a picture. I turned to take off my shoes, and turned back around and Steve was down on one knee! I didn’t know what to do! I started crying, and I feel the world stopped. All I remember is him saying “Heather Lynn…” I was crying and just in shock! He said “well are you going to say yes” I don’t remember anything else, and I said YES absolutely! The man who took the picture of us, as soon as he saw Steve propose, he switched it over to video and the whole thing is on camera! It was just perfect.
We can’t be anymore excited to begin our lives together as husband and wife!
