How We Met
In the summer of 2017, we were both on Bumble. I came across his profile, which read “If you buy me coffee, we’ll be best friends” so I swiped right and he was my first match! It took me almost 20 hours to come up with my opening line- “How do you take your coffee?”. Smooth.
Well, after a few flirty exchanges, we set up our first date. I canceled the very first plans but rescheduled for a few days later. We sat in a coffee shop and just talked for 5 hours, being forced to leave because it was midnight and they were closing. We then walked to a local bar to keep talking and stayed out till after 2 am. Our next few dates were full of talking, laughing, and getting to know each other. That’s when we knew this was more than an online meet-up.
How They Asked
Scott and I have found ourselves in love with adventure and traveling. In July 2019, I went to Colombia, South America, to spend the month with my family. Scott was meeting us for a week because it was the week of his birthday! On July 6th, Scott and I went to a beautiful dinner by the water in Cartagena, Colombia. The table was in a private section, between old walls of the city, covered in rose petals! I still wasn’t suspecting anything, especially since surprise dates are pretty regular for us. There was a photographer who claimed he was part of the restaurant, but it turns out my mom and cousin helped Scott hire him! I was completely oblivious to it all.
When dinner came out, Scott pulled out this little notebook filled in with EVERY SINGLE special day and date we went on since we started dating. Then, he took out a pen and asked me to fill out the latest entry. After I was already crying and barely able to read, I opened to the latest entry and it read, “Will you marry me?” Then, he got down on his knee and said: “Will you join me in this next adventure?”. I never cried happy tears so much, and the photographer came back out, along with my mom and brother. It was truly a magical moment.
