How We Met
Ryan and I met at Mercury Bar in NYC while we were each there having drinks on a Friday night. (Little did we know, it would be this bar’s address that is engraved on the inside of my engagement ring!) From across the bar Ryan confidently ordered me and my friend Jordan a round of drinks. After introducing himself, Ryan and I spoke and made plans to meet the following Sunday. Sunday came and Ryan and I met in Tribeca (along with 4 of my closest girlfriends). A year and a half later, Ryan got down on one knee and proposed. Mercury Bar is definitely our favorite spot in NYC!
how they asked
On our first date almost 2 years ago, Ryan and I walked on the NYC High Line, and then went for dinner. On December 12th 2015 on the way to the same restaurant, Ryan asked if I wanted to walk on the High Line. I said of course, Ryan know’s how much I love the High Line – especially at night. Our walk seemed normal, although I can’t remember exactly what we were talking about, I’m sure I was discussing what we were going to order at the restaurant and how I hoped they had my favorite ice cream on the dessert menu. As we were walking Ryan pointed out a bench and asked if I wanted to sit down. I said okay, not thinking anything of his request. (I was actually relieved by this suggestion as my heels were not practical for a walk on the High Line). After sitting down, Ryan began to tell me that on our first date on this same walk and this same bench, he knew then this was where he wanted to propose. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I could not believe it – I didn’t think it was possible to be that happy and that excited! Shortly after, his best friend met us with champagne to celebrate. After dinner, we met our friends and family at Mercury Bar – a bar in NYC where Ryan & I first met 2 years ago. (Ryan had Mercury Bar’s address engraved inside of my engagement ring).
The night of our proposal far surpassed anything I could have ever dreamed of!
