How We Met
Dan and I met while working together, one summer during college. Dan is one of the few people I’ve met in life that I had an instant connection with and we became fast friends. We continued our friendship throughout college and became even closer after we both moved back home. Eventually, as life would have it, we lost touch. Several years later, I sent Dan a Facebook message out of the blue asking if he wanted to grab a drink and catch up. After what I assumed would be a one-time meeting, Dan expressed an interest in hanging out again. And again. Ten years after meeting that summer during college, we decided we wanted to be more than just friends.
How They Asked
After being snowed in all weekend, Dan suggested we go to a restaurant in St. Charles we had talked about recently. After we parked, Dan asked if I wanted to go for a walk down Main Street. It was cold and had started snowing again, but I reluctantly agreed.
We walked for quite a while, and just as I was about to ask how much farther, we stopped in front of a giant Christmas tree and Dan got down on one knee. Back at the place where we had reconnected a year and a half ago, I said yes!
After the proposal, I heard the clicking of a camera and saw my sorority sister Lauren, who also happens to be a talented photographer! I learned later that she had also scouted locations and helped set up the whole proposal.
After taking more pictures along Main Street, Dan and I went out to dinner and I was surprised again to see both of our families there! I couldn’t have asked for a better proposal!
