How We Met
We had worked at the same company for 10+ years, but in different offices, so we knew of each other but didn’t really know each other. One day, I was at his office for a meeting and they were doing a blood drive. They needed more participants, so my friend in marketing asked if I would donate. I agreed and was sitting on the bus waiting for my turn when Cory came in. We started talking about Thanksgiving plans because it was two days away. The wait was too long, so I had to leave for my meeting. Cory found my number in the company directory and texted me about an hour later to ask me to lunch. We’ve been dating ever since.
How They Asked
We had actually been talking about getting engaged for several months and had a ring custom-designed together. Cory was very insistent that I choose my ring because if I was going to wear it forever, he wanted me to love it. At the same time as designing the ring, we were researching wedding venues. We knew we wanted to get married this year! While in Austin for the weekend to look at venues, I also had a hair and makeup trial. After that, we went to Eberly for a tour. When we walked in, the GM greeted us and then sort of disappeared. That’s when Cory looked at me and said, “Baby, I have a question” and then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I looked over and realized that there were two photographers taking our pictures. Cory had hired professionals to capture our special moment and take our engagement pictures right then. We actually got married in the same place four weeks later!
