Stephanie and Andrew
How We Met
I was at a time in my life where I was happy with who I was and what I had accomplished and I had stopped worrying about when I was going to meet the right guy. I had decided that if God wanted me to be single for a while, I was okay with it. Right after Christmas in 2016, I had been seeing commercials for Match.com, and something inside me said give it a shot. I couldn’t shake the feeling. So I signed up on January 3rd for a six month subscription, and that afternoon I came across Andrew’s profile and sent him a wink. Later that afternoon he messaged me and we talked as much as possible. We joke and say we paid to date each other for six months. One week later we agreed to meet in person for the first time, but the day we were supposed to meet it snowed! We had a three hour facetime date that day and met the next. I think we both knew that this relationship was going to be different, and the rest is history.
how they asked
The day after Thanksgiving my family has a tradition that we go to a Christmas tree farm and cut down trees together. This year, we also decided to dress nicely and take a family photo with all our significant others for a Christmas card. The weather was perfect, a little crisp, but sunny with barely a cloud in the sky. After walking around the farm for a while, we took the pictures and then decided it was time to cut down the trees and call it a day. Andrew asked me if the tree I was next to was the one I wanted, and when I said it was, he called his family out from behind some trees (I was very surprised because they live on Long Island) and he asked me to marry him in front of our families. My ring is extremely special, because the diamond in the middle belonged to my Great Grandmother who has passed away a couple weeks before I was born. Andrew and I had discussed very early on how our families are the most important thing to use besides our faith and he definitely kept that in mind that day. After we left the farm, my family had been up baking all night preparing a brunch to celebrate the special day. I can’t believe they had all been working together on this for so long without me knowing!
