How We Met: Adam and I met at work, I was 17 and he was 19. We were both working at a fun summer job, Adventure Landing. I was a lifeguard and he worked with the go carts. One day my best friend Paige and I went up there on our day off wanting to play laser tag and ride the go carts, we were still new there so we weren’t sure how that worked, if we had to pay or if we could just go play.
Once we were in laser tag we asked one of the go cart workers walking through if we could ride, he told us no, laughed and walked off. What a jerk, we had no clue if he was being serious or just messing with us but this guys friend let us ride anyways. The next day I was at school and the guy who told us we couldn’t ride the go carts had commented on one of my Facebook pictures, that guy just so happened to be Adam. From there we became friends which soon turned into so much more.
how they asked: The best day of my life thus far started off like any normal Sunday… Adam woke up, got ready for work, told me he loved me and kissed me goodbye. I had plans to get a mani/pedi with my best friend Paige, so soon after he left for work she picked me up and we went to our usual spot. The day felt so normal.
Adam was texting me like he normally does while he is at work saying the normal things that he says so I did not suspecting a thing. As Paige and I are getting our nails and toes done she is mentioning her plans for the rest of the day which included going to layout by the pool with some other people. Here I am sitting there thinking, she knows I don’t have any other plans today so why wouldn’t she invite me? LOL Little did I know, while we were at the nail salon Adam was actually home, (never actually going to work just driving around until I had left the house) and had a bunch of our close friends and family meet him there.
Paige and I spent the car ride home talking girl talk until we were about to turn down the road, then it was almost as if a silence fell over her and I see her pull her phone out.. Right then I looked down the street where his house is and my heart stopped and the tears started flowing.
At the end of the road was the love of my life, my best friend, my biggest supporter, my other half, my everything in the middle of his two friends who were holding signs in the air that read, “Say Yes!” The typically short drive down that street now seemed like it was a mile long. I don’t even remember if I waited for Paige to put the car in park before I jumped out and made my way up to Adam, who was surrounded by our close friends and family.
I hugged him with so much love and excitement before he could even get down on one knee.
When I finally released him from the hug, he got down on one knee and said: “I love you more than anything. I don’t want to spend my life with anyone else, so, Will You Marry Me?”Through the tears I responded with, “Oh my goodness, Yes.”
We stayed at the house and spent some time with our friends and family soaking it all up.
Later that afternoon, he told me he had another surprise for me. We got in the car and headed towards the beach where he had booked us a room decorated in rose petals at a nice hotel overlooking the ocean. At the end of the day I got my dream man, an amazingly thoughtful proposal, and my dream ring.
Now we are in the process of planning our wedding. I cannot wait until December 11th 2016 when I will officially be the wife of Adam Kyle Higgins!
