How We Met
Aaron and I met on a dating app- no shame here! We both say that we knew pretty instantly that we had met the fateful “one”. While I was in graduate school getting my master’s degree in marriage and family counseling we would take turns driving to each other until after about a year of dating when we moved into our first place together in Orlando, Florida, and adopted our rescue cat, Milo.
How They Asked
Around three months ago I won an Instagram giveaway for a photoshoot with the amazing Jena Langer Photography (in case you didn’t know, I have a minor obsession with Instagram giveaways). Fast forward to the first weekend in February, Aaron and I headed down to South Florida for some family time and our photoshoot. The night before the shoot before we fell asleep I remember turning to Aaron and saying “I can’t explain it but I feel so odd calling you my boyfriend, you’re so much more to me than a boyfriend”…little did I know. When we arrived at the shoot Jena led us to a beautiful, lush trail that looked like it was plucked straight from the Pacific Northwest.
As we turned the corner on the trail I noticed a steel drummer who I then realized was playing our song (which may or may not be “Africa” by Toto). I turned to Aaron, still totally oblivious, and said “Hey! He’s playing our song!” to which he responded, “I know he is.” At this point, Aaron was crying and it finally clicked for me what was happening.
We soaked in every second of our walk down the trail until we arrived at a beautiful set up including champagne, flowers, candles, and of course the ring. The rest is history and- spoiler alert- I said yes. We are still riding the wave of joy from this day and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with the man of my dreams.
