How We Met: Bryce and I met through mutual friends: two brothers named Mike and Paul. Bryce has been best friends with them since high school and I have known them since I was three years old. We attended grade school together for 12 years, but it was during college that I really connected with Mike and Paul, since we were all living in Kansas City. Through mutual hangouts and get-togethers, Bryce and I began talking. It started as a friendship that lasted for a little more than a year before growing into an amazing relationship. They say that when you know, you know. We had this special connection. We made each other laugh and genuinely enjoyed each other’s company. It felt like nothing I’d ever experienced before. After dating for just under two years, we became engaged!
how they asked: Bryce did an amazing job planning the proposal. I’m not sure I could have pictured it to be any more perfect. First, he not only asked my sisters’ and parents for approval but, without me knowing, he was able to include my sisters in the ring selection process. Bryce selected the ring he did because of its immense detail. Not only does the ring have diamonds on the sides to complement the square diamond in the middle, but the band has a unique and intricate design that really stands out. He liked the details around the entirety of the front-facing part as well as the top and bottom. He commends my sisters and my cousin, who worked at Shane Co. in the St. Louis area for over 5 years, for the help and guidance they provided. Bryce said that when it came down to it, everything about the ring-buying process was just right, from the experience with the staff to how he felt while at Shane Co.
After much contemplation, Bryan decided he wanted to propose at Busch Stadium, home to the St. Louis Cardinals. Busch Stadium, both the old and new, has always held a special place in my heart. Some of my best memories, including the most unforgettable moment of my life, happened at Busch Stadium.
We were headed to St. Louis over Labor Day weekend for a quick getaway and to catch my favorite team in action. On August 31, when Bryce woke me up, he said he had a surprise and to get ready for a day of Cardinal fun! I thought we were headed for breakfast and then to start tailgating for the game, but Bryce obviously had something else up his sleeve. As we began walking toward Busch Stadium, out jumped my parents, sisters, cousins, and aunt and uncle. I was surprised and shocked, to say the least. We proceeded to take a tour of the stadium, something I had yet to do in my 24 years of life. The tour concluded on the field, at home plate to be exact, and we took a once-in-a-lifetime photo. Just then, Bryce went down on one knee and popped open a small box, exposing the sparkling beauty of the ring that was inside, and he asked me to marry him.
I was so happy that all I could do was nod and say yes over and over. I couldn’t have imagined a better way to get engaged, as it included all of my favorites, and my family was able to be a part of it.
