how we met
After returning home from an LDS mission I began to once again become acquainted with friends I had before I left. I had some close friends that knew Ansley and so she came to hang out with us one Thursday night in July of 2016. We had a large group of people hanging out at one of my buddies house but when Ansley got there she quickly got my attention. We were playing lots of games that night and I loved how funny, positive, and witty she was. Not to mention she was the prettiest girl I had ever met. We had hit it off really well and she was super easy to talk to so we talked all day on Friday and ended up hanging out again that night. That night only made me more interested in her. I can remember going to in n out with her and her friend and Ansley was so easy to talk to and I felt like I could trust her with anything.
The next day we continued to talk and so I decided that I would like to take her out. I asked her if I could take her out that night and she let me take her out for ice cream. This night was perfect because we just hit it off even more on a 1 on 1 setting. Over the next couple of days we continued to talk on and off and I asked her out on another date. We went on a double date and then ended up going back to my house where we ended up just talking about life for hours. At this point I was really starting to like Ansley but I didn’t want to rush things. We continued to talk and I could tell that she was interested in me. We went on a few more dates and after one I walked her to her door and I really wanted to kiss her. I remember giving her a hug and then she started to walk in but then she turned back around and gave her another hug and then kissed her. She actually started laughing after I kissed her (imagine what I was thinking) but it was actually because she was so happy.
Over the next few weeks I began to like Ansley more and more but I was hesitant because she was going to be moving to Utah and I would be staying in Arizona. On one of our dates we were walking to a restaurant and I held her hand as we walked in. I can remember that moment like it was yesterday. Everything felt so right in that moment, and I could tell that she felt the same way. That was August 1st of 2016 and that is the night that we began to officially date. She still had a little less than a month before she moved to Utah and we hung out every day. Everyday I fell for her more and it was becoming more difficult to think about her moving. When the time came that she was going to be moving to Utah we decided to date long distance. That definitely was not easy but during that time I really got to know Ansley because we would talk on the phone so often. During those few months we traveled a lot. The longest we didn’t see eachother was 3 weeks and that felt like forever. Over that time we fell in love and haven’t looked back. I moved to Utah to be closer to her and things began to become more serious. Everyday with Ansley I fall in love with her more and more. Fast forward 10 months from the time we started dating we are engaged. Those early memories of getting to know Ansley always make me smile. I feel extremely lucky to have fallen in love with Ansley and have her love me back. July of 2016 and meeting Ansley will always be some of my best memories in life. Everyone deserves to have a person like Ansley in his or her life. Ansley will ALWAYS have my love.
how they asked
He told me we were going to look at Stonebridge Manor (a reception location) to see if we wanted to have our reception there. (At this point, we already had our wedding date set and had started wedding planning.) We got there and got a map, gave them our wedding date and asked to tour their outside location. (or so I thought we were doing?). We began to walk around and I was so focused on imagining if this would be where I wanted our reception that I was totally oblivious to the fact that he was escorting me to a walkway full of red and pink rose petals, pictures of us hanging by string from the trees, candles lining the ground and the prettiest gazebo decorated with lights and a chandelier. It truly was a fairytale. I have never felt a more incredible feeling in my life.
The moment I realized what was going on is a moment I will never forget. The love and excitement I felt at that moment still gives me chills when I think about it. It was the most amazing and perfect thing in the world. We walked down the walkway and looked at the pictures. The first picture I saw was one we took on our first date. 10 months later and look how far we have come. I never thought I could love someone as much as I love my Spencer.
Once we were done looking at the pictures, we walked under the gazebo and he said something I will never forget. He said, “How you feel right now is how you should feel the rest of your life. I love you so much. Will you marry me?” He got down on one knee and I was so giddy and overwhelmed with this feeling I had never felt before. I think I said yes seven times because one one yes didn’t quite cut it. He put so much thought and love behind the proposal and I feel so beyond blessed with be with such an incredible man. Hands down the happiest day of my life. He is my best friend and soul mate. I am the luckiest girl in the world to get to spend forever with him.
