Sonia and David

How We Met

I’ve known David since I was 17, I met him at my very first job. We quickly became friends and would always go out to dinner after work with our coworkers. One night after a friends birthday party I texted him and said, “Let’s go grab ice cream” he responded and said he’d meet me at Coldstone Creamery. I’ll never forget that I got an Oreo milkshake and he paid along with leaving a $5 tip. We sat in his car and I drank my milkshake..we talked and talked about so many things. Later that night, we both looked at each other and I leaned in to give him a kiss. Keep in mind we had never hung out alone and I didn’t know I’d develop feelings for him. It just felt right to kiss him at that moment, so I did. I lived a little and went with what my gut told me.

How They Asked

Fast forward to 5 years later..I’m now 22. On February 23rd I had a Western-themed birthday party. I was very hesitant on if I wanted one or not, but for some reason, David kept pushing me to have one, so I did. The night went by and we spent it with our closest friends and family. Eventually, it came time to cut the cake and everyone sang happy birthday to me. My mom looked at me and told me to close my eyes and make a wish. I blew them out and wished for a wonderful year and a happy life.

Once I opened my eyes David was down on one knee with a ring. My heart skipped several beats as I saw the man that I’d be spending the rest of my life by asking me to marry him. I said yes, of course, and since then life has been so much sweeter. I look at him every day and I feel like I’m home. I’ve never been sure about a lot of things in my life but I look at David and I KNOW he’s the one I want to have the good and the bad with..?
