Smith and Aaron

How We Met

Aaron and I met at Camp Sweeney a summer camp for kids with Diabetes. We were both diagnosed when we were ten, had been attending camp for years, and then when I transferred to a different session I met aaron. We became friends through mutual ones, and slowly began hanging out more, to the point that we were best friends. My junior year of high school, I asked Aaron to Carousel, a girls ask guys dance at my high school. It was that night that I realized I really liked this guy, he was nice, smart, we had all the same friends and man was he cute! The next summer during our camp carnival, the nice, cute, smart guy who happened to be one of my best friends asked me to be his girl friend, and of course I said yes! The next few years were rough, Aaron moved to San Diego for nursing school at San Diego State, and I was in Dallas. We skyped for hours every night, and when I could I flew to San Diego for weekend visits and he flew home for school breaks. It got the point that I hated having to keep communicating only through the phone or the computer, so I moved to San Diego! I have been here for just over 2 years now and well Aaron and I have been together for almost 5 now! It has been almost 5 years and I still have the best friend a girl could ask for, but now I have the luck and pleasure of calling him my fiance! I cannot wait for what is to come and like they say, this is where the adventure begins!

how they asked

Aaron and I went home just after the new year to see our families and friends! We went home on Wednesday and planned to come home on Monday. On Sunday, my whole world changed. My best friend had invited me to lunch, and being that she was my best friend I didnt think anything of it. Turns out I was completely in the dark! We finished up a lunch of talking about our boyfriends, and catching up on life, Erin (my best friend) told me that we should walk around so that she didnt have to go home, I agreed and we started walking around downtown Plano. Its adorable, little shops and resteraunts line the streets, but once we started walking around stores that were closed and clearly too expensive for us I got a little confused. We finally left a store, and being a photographer she asked me if I would walk with her over to the park to take some great head shot of her while I was in town.

Of course I agreed and we made our way. We walked down to the park, and when we turned a corner, there he was. Aaron was standing in the middle of a gazebo in the park that he had lined the stair case with my favorite flowers, and pictures of us from throughout the past 4 and half years. In the background, our favorite song ” God gave me You” by Blake Shelton was playing and all of a sudden it hit me, this was happening.

I walked up the gazebo and Aaron said the sweetest things, that I was his best friend and he wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of his life with me. He asked, and I said YES! All of a sudden from the other side of the gazebo our families and bestfriends popped up! They had all been watching and were part of the whole thing! It was absolutely perfect, Im not a fancy person, and having it be in front of all of our friends and family was amazing! I could not have asked for a more perfect moment!
