How We Met: David and I were best friends in high school who secretly had crushes on each other and would leave each other notes in our lockers but we never took our relationship to the next level until a year after we graduated.
Needless to say, dating at such a young age brought several obstacles for us to fight through to stay together, but no matter what problems we faced we never gave up on our love or each other.
how they asked: So David decided to plan an over the top proposal right before our 10 year anniversary and took me sky diving. Skydiving was something we both had on our bucket list and we finally decided to take the plunge. David had everything planned perfectly. He had a special banner made and dropped it off at the skydiving venue the day before our jump.
He also had everyone in on it so they made sure to coordinate it to where they had David jump first and have a few others go after him therefore having me jump last that way David was already on the ground and waiting for me with the ring next to the banner he had laid out on the landing field.
The best part about it all was that David tried to arrange to have my mom come out from Arizona to be there for it all but within the last couple of weeks before the proposal she became unable to walk due to her battle with breast cancer becoming worse. Even though she couldn’t be there, David made sure to tell her all of his ideas and plans throughout the entire planning process so that she could feel like she was a part of it. She was waiting by the phone for my phone call once he proposed. About 5 months later my mom passed away from her long battle of breast cancer.
We’ve been engaged for over a year now and I still haven’t been able to bring myself to make wedding plans because my mom was suppose to be such a big part of that day, she was going to walk me down the aisle. ButI know when the time is right, I will finally have my special day and marry my best friend, someone my mom loved very much.
