How We Met
Brett’s sister, Dana and I (whom I had not previously met) both went to the same woman to get our eyebrows done. I had been going to her for about 7 years and in that time shared all of my dating history with her. She knew I was just about to give up on the idea of ever finding true love, when during an appointment she mentioned to me she had a client whose brother seemed like everything I’ve always wanted. Family man, good job, good looking, has his life together…all the important things. She asked if I would be interested in going on a “blind date” with him (I obviously stalked his Facebook & Instagram prior to agreeing). She then chatted with Dana about it all and Dana asked Brett if he would be interested. After seeing a photo of me, he, of course, said he was interested :)
Brett and I went on our first date on 1/5/17. We were both very nervous, but we ended up chatting for almost 3 hours and we both knew that was rare, especially for a first date. Brett got up to go to the bathroom at one point and there was this sweet Mother/Daughter duo next to us that leaned over to me and said: “you two make a very cute couple!” I said “thank you, it’s our first date” the daughter exclaimed, “I knew it!”…That must have been a sign because from that night on we were inseparable and started building something that was different than anything either of us had ever felt before and it was clear from the beginning there was something very special between us. I met Brett’s family after only dating for 2 weeks and soon after that meeting, we both knew we wanted to marry each other. The love we share for one another is so strong that we knew we wouldn’t want to wait long to officially start our forever together.
how they asked
Brett and I talked about not getting engaged until we had been dating for a year, so once New Years 2018 hit, I knew I had to be prepared at any given moment! That meant always being on top of getting my nails done. Well, to my surprise, that moment landed on the Saturday of Brett’s birthday weekend, 3/24/18.
Brett decided for his birthday he wanted to play golf with his Dad and Brother and wanted Dana and I to meet them to play the back 9. Now, I don’t play golf. I have clubs and we go to the driving range, but I’ve never actually played before. This made it the perfect opportunity to get new golf shoes and a new outfit so I would look like the cute golfer I envisioned myself to be. Brett had his own plans up his sleeve for that day. To my later surprise, he had been working with an event coordinator to plan his perfect proposal since January! The only people that were in on this plan with him was his family and my Mom. That day started off with pouring rain and hail..not the best weather for a day of golf. Brett must have prayed to the weather Gods because soon after Dana and I started playing, the skies cleared up.
All seemed normal until I made my putt on the 18th hole and looked over to see Brett down on one knee with the most beautiful ring, asking me to marry him. Of course, I said YES!!
I heard loud cheering and looked over to see he had surprised me with my mom and the rest his immediate family watching the whole thing over at the clubhouse. He even surprised me with a photographer that was hiding in the bushes for the whole proposal! It was truly the best day and I’m so happy we have the photo memories to look back on.
