How They Asked
I absolutely love animals more than anything! Just before Valentine’s Day this year, Greg took me to London for the weekend for a surprise. We stayed in one of my favorite hotels, Ace Hotel in Shoreditch, where we enjoyed champagne on the rooftop bar on our first night. Early Saturday morning, Greg got me up and we headed out of London on the train to Kent. I had no idea where we were headed. After an hour of traveling, we arrived at the Hemsley conservation center. This is where one of the Zookeepers told me I’d be a Zoo Keeper for the day! We spent the next few hours feeding the Marmosets, Meerkats and wild cats. It was such a fab day, I was in my element! Towards the end of the experience, we prepared some food for the Lemurs. We headed into the enclosure and sat down and began to feed them.
One of the zookeepers asked if he could take some photos (unknown to me at the time, they had been in on the whole day, even helping Greg to chose the best animal enclosure to propose to me in!) He started snapping away and I wasn’t really paying much attention to anything going on around me, I was too focused of feeding the lemurs, when all of a sudden Greg got down on one knee. Without him even saying a word I burst out crying with happiness. The lemurs were so intrigued by what was going on, that they all came over for a look. I, of course, said yes and the zookeepers sent us the images they took of the moment. They are mostly of me crying, but I just love the look of the lemurs’ faces! It was the best proposal an animal lover could ask for and was such a thoughtful proposal from Greg.
