How We Met
I met Himanshu and Shuchi on a sunny Saturday afternoon at the Georgetown waterfront. I was waiting for my next client to arrive for headshot when the couple approached me and complimented me on my camera. We got to chatting and I handed them my business card thinking nothing of it. A week later, Himanshu emailed me saying that he was planning on proposing the very next week after we had met! How fortuitous!
After some back and forth planning, the date and time had been set. Through conversations, Himanshu told me that these two sweethearts had met at a mutual friend’s party and fell in love shortly after. The week before, he grew nervous thinking that Shuchi knew that he was planning to propose. That Friday, Himanshu confessed, “I hope the surprise works; she has a wandering mind.”
how they asked
After he and I had planned the location and the timing, Himanshu took Shuchi to the main dock to look out at the geese. He told her that they were going out to a nice dinner so she would be in an outfit that she liked for pictures, which I thought was so considerate! Once looking out at the docks, Shuchi was a little confused as to why they were taking this walk before dinner.
We were both worried that this change of pace would tip her off but, let me tell you, she was shocked!
After I revealed myself I asked if she had any clue and through her laughter and sweet smile she exclaimed “Not a clue!”
The love between Shuchi and Himanshu was extremely evident by the way he made her laugh. During our entire mini-session they were giggling and snuggling the entire time! In between looking at each other and admiring her stunning rose gold ring, I could hardly snap a shot of the pair where they actually noticed I was there.
I wish the future Gupta’s a lifetime of love and happiness. Here are a few more shots from Himanshu’s 4th of July weekend surprise by the docks.
