How We Met
Shirley and I met in highschool. We knew all the same people and we always in the same groups, but we didn’t get together until our second year of college. I was leaving for school in Illinois and she was moving to D.C. to finish her undergrad at AU. It was New Years Eve when I finally made told her how I felt. We had been best friends for so long and I was so nervous. Thankfully she felt the exact same way. We danced all night and that was it – we’ve been together ever since. My life has only become more amazing having her by my side.
how they asked
I hid the ring for six whole months. Her dream was to go to Paris, she had been dreaming of it since she was a little girl. Because she was working almost twelve hour shifts and graduating from undergrad as the first in her family to do so, I knew I had to surprise her with the trip of her dreams – she deserved that and much more. I began planning the entire proposal and on the eve of her graduation I surprised her with the plane tickets – little did she know she was in for another huge moment in her life. I was a nervous wreck the entire time we were in Paris. I told her we had to wake up to see (and film) the sunrise in front of the Eiffel Tower. She wasn’t suspecting a thing when we got dressed and headed out. I told her to stand facing the Eiffel Tower so that I could take pictures of her and then I started recording – she was used to this because I make Vlogs from time to time. I snuck up behind her and when she turned around all she did was cry (and also tackled me and jump around with excitement). It was the greatest moment of my life. I still get goosebumps every time I watch the video. I am so grateful to have her in my life.
